Pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha), also known as humpback salmon, is a Pacific salmon species that has occassionally been recorded in UK rivers, likely introduced via straying from populations established in northern Europe. Unlike native salmonids, pink salmon have a strict two-year life cycle and spawn in odd-numbered years in UK waters. They spawn in freshwater rivers and streams, potentially competing with native Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and trout species for habitat.
