Who we are

About Taxa Genomics

We turn a sample of water, soil or sediment into a clear picture of the species living in an environment, using environmental DNA.

What we do

Every organism sheds traces of DNA into its surroundings: in skin cells, mucus, faeces and gametes. This environmental DNA (eDNA) can be captured from a simple field sample and sequenced to reveal which species are present, without ever needing to see or disturb them. Taxa Genomics provides eDNA testing for ecologists, regulators, conservationists and researchers across the UK.

Our laboratory combines targeted qPCR assays for single-species detection with metabarcoding panels that profile entire communities (fish, amphibians, invertebrates and more) from one sample.

Our mission

Biodiversity is in crisis, and you cannot protect what you cannot measure. Our mission is to make rigorous, affordable biodiversity monitoring available at scale, giving decision-makers the evidence they need to protect and restore the natural world.

Why eDNA

  • Non-invasive: no trapping, handling or disturbance of protected species.
  • Sensitive: detects rare and cryptic species that traditional surveys miss.
  • Efficient: survey more sites, more often, at lower cost.
  • Reproducible: objective, lab-based results with a clear audit trail.

Quality

Every test runs with rigorous controls and a clear audit trail, from sample receipt through to reporting. [TODO: describe your quality management approach and controls.]
